Where the Wild Things Are- Recreated

Here is the inspiration for my photograph, entitled "Textile Thing" by Miki Sato.

  1. My interpretation of “Textile Thing” is supposed to capture both a whimsical atmosphere in a fantasy setting as well as contrasting the original by putting more emphasis on the uncertainty and borderline terror it includes. In the original, the wild things in the background are jolly and dancing while Max’s body language is much more muted and almost worried or afraid. I tried to put a strong emphasis on capturing the mixed emotions as well as the feral excitement.

This picture is composed of three different photos, two for the background and one for the foreground. The lighting is from an unusual color street light at the top of the hill, which casts the eerie lighting over the scene. A tripod was used to ensure the scenery remained the same throughout each photograph.
